CARDBOARD BOXES

It started with a couple cardboard boxes, a touring band, and thousands worth of equipment held in between those four flimsy corners. Sounds like a recipe for an expensive casualty, or a bad joke.

So as the tour manager, Luke naturally did the obvious thing. He spent days out of his garage manually building the band their own custom strong and sturdy wood road cases, which meant they could have successful performances while avoiding equipment disasters across their national tour. Win-win.

From road cases to kitchens

Eventually Luke and his brother moved to El Paso to build road cases full time. That’s when the orders started flooding in from cabinet shops requesting pre-built pieces.

It wasn’t long until an architect friend asked the brothers, "Could you build my kitchen?" They'd never built one, so of course they said yes, and that was the start of Compound Design.

Where we are now

Today, more than 500 customers have trusted Compound Design with their spaces, including the Plaza Hotel, Cafe Central, Stanton House, Deutsch & Deutsch, Anson 11, the UTEP Library, and more.

We believe every piece should feel like art in the room it was built for, so we hold every request to three promises.

  • No cut corners. Ever. Each project goes under the microscope until the craftsmanship meets a luxury standard.

  • Surprises are for the finished piece, not the final bill. Costs and timelines get laid out on the table before the project is finalized, not after, because the only reveal you should be gasping at is the one in your room.

  • We don't go quiet on you either. We'll be the first to speak with you on quality, timelines, expectations, desires, and fabrication updates from idea to physical manifestation of your custom piece.

And if we can't keep these promises on a project, we won't take it.
